33. Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Monday, May 30, 2011

Okay, this got me through the weekend. I love this book by John Green (Looking for Alaska) and David Levithan (Nick and Nora’s infinite playlist). I really liked both Will Grayson characters and Jane and Tiny Cooper. Come to think of it, I liked all the characters in this book. J

when things break, it's not the actual breaking that prevents them from getting back together again. It's because a little piece gets lost - the two remaining ends couldn't fit together even if they wanted to. The whole shape has changed.

We acknowledge that being the person God made you cannot separate you from God's love.

Hurt tends to drown out sorry.

♥ the truth? Everybody has it. That’s our curse and our blessing. That’s our trial and our error and our it.

Go

Going through some small stuff but being the melodramatic girl that I am, of course I blew it out of proportion in my head. I am totally trying my hardest to not over think things and to put on a brave front. I am doing my hardest; it is a bit difficult to tell you the truth. I give myself small prep talks every chance I get. I sleep. Hahaha. I am trying my best but ultimately God will do what is best. It is scary, but I will trust in Him. No Habakkuk moments, just small things I am struggling with. J

And I find myself singing this lately. Its on repeat in my head.

We’re giving it all away away, We’re giving it all to go your way.

Favorite part of any Church service/convention is Worship. And during Ignite, it was AWESOME! Look how 7000 young and young at heart rock for God!

Forgive the quality of the video; I shot this using my phone. J

Isn't it?

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

I was going over my archives in gmail when I saw this:

“Isn’t it nice to know that you haven’t yet laughed, all that you’ll laugh? That you haven’t yet met, some of your very best friends? And that you haven’t yet dreamed, all that you’ll manifest? That all bridges will be mended? That all sadness will be healed? And that life never ends? That all of your challenges will be won? That all of your triumphs will be shared? And that the difference you’ll make, has already begun? Well, it is for me, because I also know that if you don’t see these things yet, you will. Could it get any better?”

And I just had to say, YEP! IT IS AWESOME!

Getting Ready to Ignite

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Today my sister and I got our IDs for IGNITE. I am so stoked!!! I know that the conference actually is for the youth of the church. But I still can’t wait for it. I am literally counting down days since last week.

Actually, I think I am still a baby when it comes to walking with Jesus. I have so much more to learn. There are a lot more things to be revealed to me. And I will be waiting. Truth is the reason I wanna go is because I know I will be encouraged during the conference. I can’t wait to hear the speakers and rock for God. J Cliché as this may sound; I truly want to be on fire for God.

And as they say, It only takes one spark to start a fire. :)

The Dip

Pastor Dennis Sy spoke God’s word this morning in Church. I was truly encouraged. WE were at the second week of the 3 part series “When God doesn’t make sense”.

This week, the topic is when it takes too long. It talked about how Habakkuk wrestled faithfully with God. How he waited on him. Not for God’s answer to his questions but waiting for God.

It was illustrated how high we were when we first met God. How we always felt Him everywhere. And how it is but natural to sometimes find ourselves in a plateau. And if we stay in faith and not walk away, we will soar with His promises and revelations.

Pastor Dennis used Seth Godin’s The Dip figure to illustrate this.

When you find yourself in a dip:

  1. Stop and Listen - we have to stop and listen for His answers.
  2. Write the revelation - Write visions that we see God has for us. We do this because we tend to forget things, this way we are always reminded of God's promises.
  3. WAIT - this does NOT mean NO movement. This means doing things by faith.

Call-a-Friend

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

I was super annoyed start of my shift because of some work stuff; I texted Noel to rant as usual, and he had the most amazing reply!

G: Are you busy?

N: No naman. Wassup?

G: Am totally going to kill him!!!!

N: Haha! Just be discreet. Haha!

Later that evening, after a long conversation with Noel, I said..

G: I will try to fix this first, if it doesn’t work, imma call Owen.. his dad will know what to do.

N: haha. Yes, fix it bago yun..

G: hahaha

I love my friends, this is all said as a joke, and of course we will not resort to violence of any kind. I just love them. So much. J

32. Something Borrowed

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

This is my first encounter of Emily Giffin. I can’t help but think of Ginnifer Goodwin while I read this book, has to do with the movie (which I have not seen yet) of course. I don’t know why I didn’t like it so much, towards the ending, I wish there was more to it. I did like the characters though, especially Ethen. I just wish they did more.

I will go see the movie, I just might like it more. J

IGNITE

Saturday, May 14, 2011

I am really really really excited. It is now 10 days to go to IGNITE! I know I am no youth, but I am still young at heart. :P So, I am going. I truly can’t wait.

31. Keeping Faith

I have been reading Jodi Picoult on and off for the past months. I have started about 3 books and this is the first one that I finished. A story of family and faith. I love the back story of different religion illustrated in this book. I love the fact that it focuses on faith - on belief we have of and about God.

“You can believe in something really hard and still be wrong.”

Getting ready for Ignite!

Kung akala mo hindi mo na kaya

Kung sa sarili mo ika’y nagdududa

Wag mangamba, di ka nagiisa

Sa puso mo Sha’y naninirahan

Pangalan Nya’y makapangyarihan

May kaligtasan, kabanalan

Paghilom at kalayaan

just saying

Although I know I am not broken, there are some days that I feel some parts of me are totally shattered.

K4Phil

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Just came from K4Phil Intercessors Convergence 2011. It is a prayer movement founded by Bishop Jonel calling on all followers of Jesus to offer prayer for the leaders of our country. The four Ks are Kalusugan, Kaligtasan, Karunungan and Katwiran.

It was actually announced last Sunday before service that there will be a prayer meeting to be held in the EN Building today and I just wanted to go. So, I got Chai to come along. I have no expectations going into it - except I know for sure that I will go home encouraged. :)

I have never been to any prayer meetings before, and today was a real treat. It is amazing to see people from different walks of life come together for one reason; to pray for our leaders - for our country.

The whole time we were praying, I kept thinking of the verse Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them". I just know all our prayers will be answered and that great things will happen to our country.

The music ministry was great too; I love that I know the songs today. :) It was like listening to my playlist actually. Since I know for a fact that I really can’t sing well, I was just singing loud. The Lord impressed this line from the song OUR GOD to me.

And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us.

And if our God is with us, then what could stand against.

As the meeting comes to an end, I wished I have the gift to articulately say prayers out loud. I am always amazed how people can comfortably utter beautiful prayers in one breath.

From the meeting, I took away the powerful thought that there truly is GREAT power in PRAYER.

Its okay.

Be the pig?

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Church today was really great. The message came from Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.

The mini story told by our guest pastor as he land the message goes:

a chicken and a pig wanted to worship and give praise to the farmer that raised them so they were talking about how to do it. They decided that the chicken will give the farmer eggs while the pig will give him bacon.

Notes:
chicken will give a part of him
pig will give all of him

WE SHOULD ALL BE THE PIG! ;)

Point

In view of God's mercy, giving all of ourselves is not radical. It is reasonable.
